We have been successfully running classes for complete beginners over the last two years. We start with the basics of how to hold your ukulele, how to strum and play simple chords while singing songs. Over a 12 week course of weekly half hour lessons, we gradually increase the number of chords and by the end you will have learned to play 18 different songs and have the confidence to join the main group. Our aim is to get as many people as possible having fun playing and singing songs in the group.
The lessons will be at the Adderbury Bowls Club on Mondays from 6:45 pm to 7:15 pm. The cost is £2.00 per lesson, payable on the night, or £20.00 for the course and you will need to print off the Beginners Book from the Song Books page. Numbers are limited, so to book a place, please email us through the Contact page. Juniors, 16 and under, must be accompanied by an adult. We can lend you a ukulele to try, but if you want to buy a ukulele, basic ones start from around £20.00. Go to the Links page to see supliers. You can always drop in to see us to ask for advice.
On Thursday mornings from 9;30 am to 11:15 am at Stanbridge House, Ruskin Road, Banbury, we run a drop-in improvers class, costing £2.00 per session. Parking and entrance is down the side of the building and we have use of the residents lounge.
We will play the songs in our song books, taking our time to practice strumming, forming the chords and singing. We can also try different song that anybody wants to bring along. Just turn up whenever you can with your uke and music.
