We have been successfully running classes for complete beginners over the last two years. We start with the basics of how to hold your ukulele, how to strum and play simple chords while singing songs. Over a 12 week course of weekly half hour lessons, we gradually increase the number of chords and by the end you will have learned to play 18 different songs and have the confidence to join the main group. Our aim is to get as many people as possible having fun playing and singing songs in the group.
The cost is £2.00 per lesson, payable on the night, or £20.00 for the course and you will need to print off the Beginners Book from the Song Book page. We can lend you a ukulele to try, but if you want to buy a ukulele, basic ones start from about £20.00 and please ask for advice. Numbers are limited, so to book a place, either email us through the Contact page or drop in to see us on a Monday evening. Juniors, 16 and under, must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to our moving premises, beginners classes have been put on hold and may not start until the new year. Please keep looking to see when they start. Alternatively, separate individual lessons can be arranged.
On a Thursday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at The Cafe in Horton View, Banbury, we now run a drop-in improvers class, costing £2.00 per session.
We will play the songs in our song books, taking our time to practice strumming, forming the chords and singing. We can also try different song that anybody wants to bring along. Just turn up with your uke and music and join in whenever you can.
